Contra Costa Superior Court Seeks Official Reporters

The Superior Court of Contra Costa County is conducting an open recruitment to fill Court Reporter vacancies. Individuals selected must be available to be assigned to any court location. An eligibility list will be established as a result of this recruitment and may be used to fill other vacancies in the future. Only incumbents who meet the minimum qualifications by the final filing date may apply.

Salary Range: $84,366.30 – $102,547.75 annually*
*Base salary only; realtime differentials of 5%, 7.5%, or 10% may apply.

REALTIME DIFFERENTIAL

Court Reporters who hold a state or national Realtime certification (CRR, CRP, CCRR, CRG or FCRR) shall receive a 10% pay differential.

Court Reporters who have successfully completed the Court administered Realtime certification test shall receive a 5% pay differential

Under direction, this specialized classification steno graphically records and maintains an official record of court proceedings, reads notes as requested, prepares transcripts, and performs other related duties as required.

Incumbents in this classification are responsible for making verbatim official records of court proceedings in machine shorthand and providing read back of all or portions of the record upon request.

The Court offers a substantial benefits package to include a choice of health plan, dental plan, a vision plan, 13 paid holidays, 3 weeks of vacation, 4 days of personal leave, day off on your birthday and sick leave.

Our Court offered Health insurance plan is offered through Kaiser, HealthNet and Valley Health Plan. Certain coverage fully paid by Court for employee and dependents.

BENEFITS (full-time)
 

  • Options Benefit Plan – Benefits may be purchased using a tax free monthly benefits allowance between $899.49 – $1,938.73 (based on number enrolled in medical coverage).  If the monthly cost of the benefits selected is less than the monthly allowance, the employee receives the difference as additional taxable pay. Medical, dental, disability, life and AD&D insurance, and health and dependent care spending accounts are available in Options.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan (457) – Optional tax-deferred income plan that includes a County match of up to 4% of employee’s salary.
  • Vacation – All permanent employees are eligible to earn paid vacation based on years of service. Vacation time may not be used during the first six months of employment.
  • Sick leave – Depending on the length of service and employment categories, up to one day of full pay per month of service is accrued monthly for qualifying service.
  • Holidays – 13 days per year
  • Bereavement leave
  • Retirement Plan – A retirement plan is provided to full-time, permanent employees
  • The Commuter Benefit Plan (CBP) Allows employees to pay for eligible public transit expenses using pre-tax dollars (up to IRS limits).

Official Reporter Position Open in U.S. District Court – Eastern District

The U.S. District Court – Eastern District of California is recruiting for an Official Court Reporter who is Realtime certified. The incumbent will report to a Court Services Supervisor in our Clerk’s Office and will as part of a pool of reporters provide court reporting services to our Sacramento judges on an assigned basis.

SALARY RANGE

Level 3: $89,320 (Requires Realtime Certification)
Level 4: $93,380 (Requires Realtime Certification and Registered Merit
Reporter (RMR) Certification)
