The Superior Court of Contra Costa County is conducting an open recruitment to fill Court Reporter vacancies. Individuals selected must be available to be assigned to any court location. An eligibility list will be established as a result of this recruitment and may be used to fill other vacancies in the future. Only incumbents who meet the minimum qualifications by the final filing date may apply.
Salary Range: $84,366.30 – $102,547.75 annually* *Base salary only; realtime differentials of 5%, 7.5%, or 10% may apply.

Court Reporters who hold a state or national Realtime certification (CRR, CRP, CCRR, CRG or FCRR) shall receive a 10% pay differential.
Court Reporters who have successfully completed the Court administered Realtime certification test shall receive a 5% pay differential
Under direction, this specialized classification steno graphically records and maintains an official record of court proceedings, reads notes as requested, prepares transcripts, and performs other related duties as required.
Incumbents in this classification are responsible for making verbatim official records of court proceedings in machine shorthand and providing read back of all or portions of the record upon request.

Options Benefit Plan –
Benefits may be purchased using a tax free monthly benefits allowance
between $899.49 – $1,938.73 (based on number enrolled in medical
coverage). If the monthly cost of the benefits selected is less than
the monthly allowance, the employee receives the difference as
additional taxable pay. Medical, dental, disability, life and AD&D
insurance, and health and dependent care spending accounts are available
Deferred Compensation Plan (457) – Optional tax-deferred income plan that includes a County match of up to 4% of employee’s salary.
All permanent employees are eligible to earn paid vacation based on
years of service. Vacation time may not be used during the first six
months of employment.
Sick leave –
Depending on the length of service and employment categories, up to one
day of full pay per month of service is accrued monthly for qualifying
Holidays – 13 days per year

Court Reporter is a professional level classification responsible for preparing verbatim records and transcripts of court proceedings. Incumbents are compensated separately for transcripts and copies, which may be prepared after regular court hours.
Under direction, prepare and transcribe official verbatim recordings of court proceedings using machine shorthand; and to perform related work as assigned.
This classification is full-time, represented and non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Salary: $70,911 – $86,193 annually

The U.S. District Court – Eastern District of California is recruiting for an Official Court Reporter who is Realtime certified. The incumbent will report to a Court Services Supervisor in our Clerk’s Office and will as part of a pool of reporters provide court reporting services to our Sacramento judges on an assigned basis.
San Bernardino County is seeking qualified individuals to work as Pro Tem Certified Court Reporters on an independent contractor basis.
