The Position: Under limited supervision, provides supervision and coordination of duties for court reporters; records and transcribes verbatim stenographic accounts of official court proceedings, and performs related duties as required. Serves at the pleasure of the Court Executive Officer.

Compensation and Benefits
The position of Court Reporter is classified as represented hourly employment and is compensated according to the following hourly pay range:
A flat fee of $300 for half day and $600 for full day when realtime is provided.

The Superior Court of Contra Costa County is conducting an open recruitment to fill Court Reporter vacancies. Individuals selected must be available to be assigned to any court location. Court Reporters who hold a state or national Realtime certification (CRR, CRP, CCRR, CRG or FCRR) shall receive a 10% pay differential.
Court Reporters who have successfully completed the Court administered Realtime certification test shall receive a 5% pay differential
Under direction, this specialized classification steno graphically records and maintains an official record of court proceedings, reads notes as requested, prepares transcripts, and performs other related duties as required.
Incumbents in this classification are responsible for making verbatim official records of court proceedings in machine shorthand and providing read back of all or portions of the record upon request.

Options Benefit Plan –
Benefits may be purchased using a tax free monthly benefits allowance
between $899.49 – $1,938.73 (based on number enrolled in medical
coverage). If the monthly cost of the benefits selected is less than
the monthly allowance, the employee receives the difference as
additional taxable pay. Medical, dental, disability, life and AD&D
insurance, and health and dependent care spending accounts are available
Deferred Compensation Plan (457) – Optional tax-deferred income plan that includes a County match of up to 4% of employee’s salary.
All permanent employees are eligible to earn paid vacation based on
years of service. Vacation time may not be used during the first six
months of employment.
Sick leave –
Depending on the length of service and employment categories, up to one
day of full pay per month of service is accrued monthly for qualifying
