In January of 2018, California Rule of Court 8.144, pertaining to reporter’s transcripts on appeal, will be amended to add additional formatting requirements for transcripts that are delivered electronically pursuant to the newly-enacted CCP 271, which will also be implemented in January of 2018.

The substantive amendments include, but are not limited to the following:

Software trainers from Stenograph, Advantage Software and StenoCAT will have focused training on using your current software to create electronic transcripts which conform with the new Rules of Court regarding E-Filing of transcripts.

We recommend attendees bring their laptops and update their CAT software to the latest versions in order to participate fully in the training.

MEET YOUR TRAINERS!

Sharon Vartanian
Stenograph Software/CaseCATalyst

Sharon Vartanian is the Stenograph District Sales Manager for Northern California and Nevada and a Stenograph Certified Independent Training Agent for Case CATalyst. She has been a freelance deposition reporter since 1995, and she is also a part-time instructor in the court reporting program at College of Marin. Her teaching background combined with her experience in the court reporting industry has brought great insight into her style and method of training reporters on CAT software.

Sharon’s keen intuition allows her to quickly assess reporters’ needs and guide them in a direction to efficiently achieve their goals. Her excellent communication skills and expertise has resulted in many satisfied court reporters, captioners, CART providers, and scopists throughout the United States and internationally.

Teresa Maciel
Advantage Software/Eclipse

Teresa Maciel has been a reporter since 1993 and has experience both as a freelancer and an official. She freelanced for eight years and opened her own deposition firm. Teresa has been an official reporter for 15 years and currently works for Madera Superior Court.

Teresa has been the Northern California sales rep for Advantage for two years and is fully licensed by Advantage Software as a trainer in the Eclipse software. Teresa has developed an extensive dictionary for Officials with the Passport Touch writer.

Teresa truly believes that you have to train daily to get better in this career. You can never stop practicing and learning to write cleaner and faster.

Rick Louie
StenoCAT 7.5

With over 24 years of product experience at Gigatron Software Corporation, Rick Louie is StenoCAT’s resident expert. Throughout his career at Gigatron, he has held various positions ranging from Product Quality Assurance to Senior Product Support Specialist. Over the last two decades, Rick has conducted numerous training seminars including, but not limited to, the StenoCAT Users Network (SUN) Meetings, CCRA Events, and NCRA Conventions. He is also an instructor at South Coast College of Court Reporting. A Southern California native, Rick graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
